When you visit our centres, we want you and your group to have fun, be challenged and take appropriate risks. But our first priority is always to keep you safe. Our fully qualified, accredited staff will be on hand to support you during your visit, and full risk assessments can be provided to help you plan your trip.
Our activity centres operate under strict health and safety regulations, with regular audits from internal and external bodies. We employ a Health and Safety Manager to support the centre managers and their teams to implement strict health and safety procedures.
We complete risk assessments for every element of the site and every activity. These risk assessments are reviewed regularly and then checked by our Health and Safety Manager. These complement our general risk assessments for fire and food risk, and our continuous safety testing.
Before using external suppliers, we firstly check their risk assessments, public liability insurance and training (if applicable), and review other paperwork required that is specific to their role or the service they are providing. All risk assessments for our events, both our own and those from external suppliers, are available throughout the event on request.
Our specific activity risk assessments can be viewed on the Keeping You Safe pages for each of our centres.
Accreditations
One of the ways we show our commitment to safety is by meeting additional, external safety standards. As well as our centres being an approved DofE provider, they are also accredited by the British Canoe Union, The institute of Outdoor Learning, The Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge (LOTC) and Adventuremark.
