If you’ve never hiked at night before, now’s the time to try it! You’ll experience lots of wonderful things that you wouldn’t normally notice in the day. As you leave site as the sun is setting, listen out for the noises of nocturnal wildlife such as bats, badgers, hedgehogs and owls. If you’re really lucky and the skies are clear you may also be able to spot planets and shooting stars.
Participants are encouraged to take the lead throughout the hike and navigate the group back to camp. This activity can take between 1 – 2 hours depending on the group ages, sizes and ability.
Rain and bad weather won’t stop play – you might get muddy so wear appropriate clothing. If there is rain forecast, you might want to bring a change of clothes. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes, with shorts or trousers, and closed-toe shoes.
We can work with you to make this activity accessible for different abilities and needs. Please contact the centre to talk about any accessibility requirements.
Please note: This is a Level 1 hike so a walking qualification for leaders is not required.
